Exercise #4 Top of the Morning Hello, and welcome to Top of the Morning. Today, we've got some fun things in store for you. We've got some suggestions for what to do around town this weekend. We've got some weather updates. And, to start off, did you know about this weekend's benefit art auction at the Circle Gallery? I'd like to show you one of the prints by Bob Smith that will be up for auction. They wouldn't give us the original. That's because the original is pretty valuable. This is a reproduction of "Stardust," one of only a few original works by the popular Bob Smith. Sixty percent of the proceeds from the sale will go to the Children's Hospital Oncology Fund. Bidding for Stardust will start at $5,000. You won't want to miss out on the chance to bid. For more information, call the Circle Gallery at 551-5151. Next, we have viewer mail, a regular segment on Top Of The Morning. Today's letter comes from Carolyn Jones of Bend, Oregon who writes: "Why do you continually promote the works of Canadian artist Bob Smith on your program? There are plenty of other artists of much greater talent than this fake. Why don't you feature sculptor Bob Jones of Bend, Oregon? Thank you sincerely, Carolyn Jones, Bend, Oregon." We'll get our producers on it right away. What to do this weekend besides visiting the Circle Gallery? It's time for the yearly Food Fest at Civic Center Park which opens Friday morning and runs all weekend. Admission is free, but you'll need to buy these. Food tickets are available all around the park at the reasonable price of 5 for $10. These tickets are redeemable at any food concession. If you've never been to the Food Fest before, this is a good time to get out and see how much fun it is. Call the Food Fest Hotline for a full list of restaurants and entertainment. Let's take a look at weather and see what the weekend has in store. The outlook for today is continued sunshine. More of the same tomorrow. Sunny and dry. And the weather experts tell us to expect the trend to continue for the rest of the week. Good news for Food Fest or for anything else you plan to do this weekend. And finally, today-remember our elementary school poetry contest? Well we have the winning poem from this year's competition in the 2nd grade category. Before I read this, I just want you to get a look at it-we gave her extra points for her fabulous handwriting. Her name is Lana Davis. She is only 9 years old and a 2nd grader at Skyline Elementary. And here is her poem. "If stars can be together in the sky Then why can't we stand side by side? If stars can twinkle so bright Then why can't we, instead of fight. Stars are peaceful and nice to see. That's what we should try to be." Thank you, Lana, for your poem. You deserved to win and we look forward to seeing many more poems from you in the future. That's it for today. Thanks for joining me for Top Of The Morning. I'm your host, _____________________, wishing you a pleasant day.
